Happy Saturday and welcome to CEO Speaks for Saturday July 27, 2024, sponsored exclusively by Second Wind Consultants, specializing in article 9, out of court, transactional restructurings.
I often speak of the actionable optionality of what TMA members experience, and how our volunteer leaders create events, programs and networking opportunities that are innovative, insightful and sometimes just create the right setting and mood to reinforce the value of what it means to be a member of TMA.
Two very different TMA opportunities these last two weeks, put front and center what the people and the power of TMA create in the elevation of connectivity opportunities, but both stand for how during the course of a professional lifetime, TMA members benefit professionally and personally in so many gratifying ways.
My journeys these last two weeks started in California, where from pure TMA innovation and imagination has become a movement known as the Turnaround Management Association Napa Summer Extravaganza, the idea of TMA leaders Kevin Otus and Winston Mar, who several years ago, launched what is now one of TMA’s most popular events, transcending boarders and drawing in members from sea to shining sea and across the globe to this marquis networking event.
This cooperative effort, lead by TMA Northern California and co-hosted with TMA SoCal, is two days of pure networking that reinforces TMA member value in an extraordinary and special ways.
Participating in this event is a personal highlight for me, as I experienced the absolute joy our members felt in a welcoming setting, and where in a most organic way, new connections are so easily made, and all in attendance are energized for this refreshing TMA experience.
I know our members echo similar sentiments, having evangelized about this stellar event on social media, like Charlie Perer who noted “The format is truly one of the best and should be a model for other regions to follow. Very rare we can create an environment for true relationship building, at a great venue and with the right amount of people. The rest of the country should take note.” Or Kyle Rich, reinforcing that “This is always one of the best events. Great to connect with these great folks.”
This truly is how #TMALightsTheWay, raising connectivity to the next level and reinforcing why membership matters in building trusted professional relationships along the way.
Trusted relationships built over time through TMA start early in one’s career, and our organization boasts the best in class professionals who comprise of our TMA NextGen community.
And this week in Toronto, Canada, the TMA Global NextGen Leadership conference took place, creating the perfect mix of learning, networking, team building, brand building and more.
It is the essence of actionable optionality, thats shows off the interesting, eclectic, traditional and innovative ways to feature that highlights all the outstanding young professionals of TMA have to offer.
From a TMA bootcamp lead by Michael Von Lehman, CTP and Jacen Dinoff, CTP complimented by the legal skills of former TMA Global chairs Milly Chow and David Cohen, to a team building charity endeavor supporting a back to school backpack project, a kickoff networking session hosted by TMA Toronto and then a conference day that mixed relevant professional content with networking highlights designed to bring those in attendance closer together with throughout the day.
Challenges and adversity and how to navigate those realities were spoken about by former Olympian and World Series champion, Ryan Lavernawy, notably traded to 15 teams and a NextGener himself, brought together the real and relevant in an honest and raw way.
I commend the tremendous efforts of our NextGen leaders for the thoughtful design of a conference experience that embodies the essence of TMA by celebrating its professional diversity, diversity of person, brand building and the importance of building long term trusted professional relationships by committing to membership in TMA.
A hearty shout out with affection and gratitude to TMA NextGen co-chairs Pat Bellot and Joe Richman along with committee members Akhil Kapoor, Justin Kanji, Kate Yurkovich, Lindsay Pellett, Martha Wyrick, Meghan Nebham, Paul Loeb, Reggie Sainvil, Stephan Fernandes, and Stephen Viz, for being the sparks that reinforces what it means to be better together and TMA proud.

Lastly today, on this segment of Member Moments, we salute Michael Von Lehman, CTP, former TMA Global Certification Oversight Committee President and Chair, and ardent advocate of the now storied TMA Bootcamp.
When one walks into a room when Michael leads one of our bootcamp sessions, it is clear that he receives great satisfaction in giving back to the professionals of TMA, is energized by the experience, and as a highly respected CTP, imparts his knowledge in an excitable, practice and proud way.
Michael has been a bootcamp leader and instructor at virtually every TMA Global conference during the course of the last two years and we salute his selflessness in imparting this important and impactful foundational knowledge that shows the great value of our CTP certification and membership in TMA.
