This Women’s History Month, TMA is proud to celebrate the accomplished women in our association. Whether it’s achieving new career milestones, serving as volunteer leaders in TMA, or supporting one another in their mutual goal of advancing women in the industry, these members are constantly raising the bar for TMA.
This week, we’re shining the spotlight on Maria Pombo, EACTP, Be Rescued Business Consulting Ltd (TMA UK).
Maria has been involved in the turnaround practice since 2009 and became a CTP in 2014. She runs Be Rescued Business Consulting Ltd, a small business consulting, turnaround and paralegal practice in West Norfolk, UK, and currently serves as Finance Director and Company Secretary for the European Association of Certified Turnaround Professionals (EACTP).
“TMA provides both educational development events and the networking opportunity among a broad range of professionals, from surveyors to lawyers, from investors to accountants, which in my view is super important when you are practicing the discipline to have that connection,” said Maria on why women should get involved with the association. She also shared her advice for women just starting out in the field:
“Become a sponge. Learn all aspects of the business project that you are engaged in and connect the dots. Learn to be diplomatic, but at the same time don’t be afraid to ask awkward questions and listen with care and understanding. And above all, persevere.”
