Happy Saturday, and welcome to CEO Speaks for Saturday, September 7th, 2024, sponsored exclusively by Second Wind Consultants, specializing in article 9, out-of-court, transactional restructurings.
Turning the page on summer brings to the forefront the spectrum of colors that is fall. In TMA nation, those colors and the vibrancy fall represents are what pave the road to the TMA Annual, which this year will be in the city of Love, Philadelphia, PA, October 15-18th.
The vibrancy and pageantry of celebration will be in the air, as our conference committee works diligently to put together one of the most eclectic and well rounded experiences that will show the world how invaluable and rewarding membership in our defining organization can be.
One need only look to the empowered NextGen members who have competed in this year’s inaugural Turnaround Tourney, to know the future of TMA and our profession is bright.
Having started with eight NextGen teams from around the world, in a display of NextGen prowess, the two finalists, team UK and team West Michigan, will face off live at Annual in what will be a world showcase of TMA talent like no other.
Be part of the action, support our NextGen mavericks in the live competition, and know their names. They are the future of TMA and our industry.
Representing Team UK will be Sam Duberly, Deniz Gunes, Sachin Thakrar, and Christopher Poel and representing Team West Michigan will Jeremy Cosby, Jake Carlton, Ryan Seely and Stephanie Voogt.
Our TMA bootcamp will premier its third tract, a deep dive into chapter 11, developed by Bootcamp creator and former TMA Global chair Matthew English, CTP along with TMA Chapter President’s Council chair Rachael Mauceri, both of whom will teach this inaugural program.
As we roll into the formal conference days, our education panels will surely touch on all areas of professional importance, and human interest too. A professorial debate speaking to the impact of recent supreme court cases, a cross border session on fiduciary duties and forum shopping, controlling the narrative of your restructuring story, mega trends and more.
The DE&I Committee will host a speakeasy, and our Certification Oversight Committee will be hosting Mimosas with Mentors as a way to connect with the luminaries of the CTP and EACTP world. Our ever-popular NOW luncheon will feature Laura Katan, a consultant specializing in communications and business etiquette. Just a few weeks ahead of the 2024 presidential election, you will not want to miss CNN commentator Michael Smerconish, who shared his insights on the critically important state of Pennsylvania.
A hearty thank you to the outstanding committee of TMA volunteer leaders who have so diligently, thoughtfully, and with an innovative and creative lens, aided in bringing together industry relevant, professionally important and topics that will simply ignite and excite any and all who indulge in the TMA Love, at this Annual conference experience.

Lastly today, on this segment of member moments we celebrate TMA DE&I leader and Philadelphia/Wilmington member Lauren Berret, for her passion and prominence as a leader advancing the conversation about Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in her various leadership roles in TMA.
As part of all the work Lauren has done in support of DE&I for TMA and our industry, she acted as the guest editor of the inaugural Journal of Corporate Renewal edition dedicated to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.
In bringing together some of the most prominent professionals in our industry to contribute their thought leadership to this premier edition of the JCR, Lauren has aided in fostering important conversations to continue to advance DE&I in our profession.
In Lauren’s own words, ‘As the DE&I space continues to evolve, as TMA members, we can continue to strengthen and build upon our collective knowledge and unique perspectives to make our association better and brighter for the future.’
Thank you, Lauren, for exemplifying not just why #TMALightsTheWay but how it does so and why, in this #bigtent, we are #bettertogether for leaders like you and the example you set for others to follow.
As always, thanks for taking the time to listen today. And thanks again to our TMA CEO Speaks exclusive sponsor, Second Wind Consultants, for your support of TMA and this podcast.
