CEO Speaks 8.12.2023

Happy Saturday, and welcome to CEO Speaks for Saturday, August 12, 2023.

I often talk about actionable optionality and the things that keep us fresh and vibrant. And in that, I speak to vision, creativity, and how our leaders and members are creating new experiences that support the power of member value and the TMA brand.

This week, having attended the TMA Southeast Regional Conference, I confirmed something amazing that is becoming an emerging TMA trend. As I connected with members who participated in this August classic hosted by TMA CarolinasTMA FloridaTMA Atlanta, and TMA Alabama, I met many first-time attendees, new members, and those non-members curious about TMA.

This trend has been a growing one for some time, but the trend that has taken greater rooting is the participation of members from other parts of TMA nation, in regional opportunities like this, steadily increasing.

This conference opportunity for example boasted participation from members from Connecticut, Chicago, Indianapolis, Houston, New York, Toronto, and Southern California too. What this says, loud and clear, is that connectivity through TMA is being experienced and appreciated in an entirely new way. I give our chapters a huge amount of credit for making this phenomenon come to the forefront, not just because of the events they hold with companion organizations in the space but for the power hours and cross-chapter programming that has opened the world of being something bigger beyond borders and seas. This has ignited this new wave of opportunity and the appreciation of what it means to be better together through TMA.

That value transcends all aspects of our organization from membership growth to sponsor visibility that grows beyond regions and exposes sponsor brand to more people than ever before.

I experienced this at the NextGen Leadership Conference with participation from the members of 20 chapters and at the SoCal NorCal pure networking extravaganza, where there were participants from all over the US and as far away as Germany.

Another emerging trend that sets us apart, is how our education has become practical and useful, offering our professionals takeaways that aid in empowering them in their practices. Like our upcoming webinar on “Litigating Valuations“, practice tips relative to navigating the WARN Act, or our Bootcamp, which gives the basics of important skills necessary for a turnaround engagement.

At Annual, we will talk about climate change and municipal re-birth both critical to coming changes in our economy and how our professionals will have to engage clients on these emerging and important issues.

It’s a time of great change at TMA, and that change is driven by members like you.

I share this today so, like me, you are motivated to become part of the optionality that continues to define our actionable organization, always in motion as we raise the bar higher on member value wherever one goes.

Thanks to all of you for being on the precipice of TMA’s Association revolution.  It is what makes us better together and TMA Proud!

As always, thanks for taking the time to listen today.  In that one connection that is you, your input is critical, your contributions paramount, and your engagement the foundation that will create a better TMA for all of our members.

Until next time, I’m Scott Stuart.  Be safe, resilient, and TMA Proud.
