Happy Saturday, and welcome to CEO Speaks for Saturday, July 1st, 2023.
What started as a dream, last week became a Turnaround Management Association reality, when our inaugural International Symposium came to life in Hamburg, Germany.
Several years in the making, we took the vision of the possible and made it a part of the next chapter of the story of TMA Tomorrow, as we raised the bar on the importance of the growing internationalism of our defining organization.
With representatives from 18 countries, including Slovenia and Saudi Arabia, a delegation of 20 TMA North American Global leaders that included four global past chairs, a sold-out Network of Women event, programs that showcased the Certified Turnaround Professional designation, and a day of thought leadership around the megatrends that are defining the world economy and our profession, we showed the world why we are vital and vibrant, active and actionable but most importantly essential and defining in every conceivable way.
I am personally grateful for the inspired leadership of TMA Europe President Eva Ringelspacher and TMA Europe Conference co-chairs Tyrone Courtman and Christian Schmidt, along with the entire conference committee and for all who supported the inaugural international symposium, for bringing together the best and the brightest in our industry, leading the way in thought leadership, and TMA connectivity for the over 200 participants who came together for these defining three days of TMA magic.
In another defining moment at last week’s symposium, the TMA International Committee, under the leadership of Global International VP Vlad Nastase, CTP, hosted a rare in-person international committee meeting that included committee members Cameron Belyea, former TMA Australia President, Onder Yilmaz, Chair of TMA Turkey, TMA Europe NOW Chair and UK member Anna Nolan and TMA Serbia President Ivana Matic, who together shared their vision in support of our international growth. We are grateful for the support and engagement of these leaders, who are at the forefront of what it means to be a part of TMA Tomorrow.
The TMA brand has never been stronger and with this showcase event, along with the TMA European Annual Conference, we took member value to the next level, in an empowering experience that not only put a new face on connectivity and being a part of something bigger, but from a local, regional, national and international perspective, reinforced the people, power, and presence of TMA from sea to sharing sea and across the globe.
Next year, we will convene for the second annual TMA Inaugural Symposium and European Annual Conference in Paris, France, in yet another celebration of TMA creative connectivity. We hope to see even more of our North American members there.
Next up for TMA Nation will be our NextGen Leadership Conference which will be held in Chicago, IL, on July 27th. Ahead of this always special and engaged gathering, will be a live TMA Boot Camp where participants thirsting to learn the basics of restructuring finance, management, and law, will have the opportunity to participate in this interactive program on July 26th, led by TMA VP of Education and Certification Oversight Committee Chair Brian Gleason, CTP, COC President Michael Von Lehman, CTP, Chapter President’s Council Vice Chair Rachel Jaffe Mauceri and Saul Ewing partner Candice Klein.
Join the Boot Camp and stay for a conference experience created by and for our NextGen leaders to empower and learn from each other, reinforce what it means to define your personal brand, and raise your professional profile through TMA.
Thank you to TMA Global NextGen co-chairs Pat Bellot and Tarut Hossain, and the entire NextGen committee for raising the bar on creating this important experience aimed at elevating the profile of our NextGen community worldwide, that will include, education, networking, a keynote by former Top Gun fighter pilot Patrick Houlihan, a community service project supporting Blessings in a Backpack in their mission to end adolescent hunger, networking dine arounds and late night fun too. This is TMA being energized by the future leaders of our profession and organization, and it looks mighty bright. Register today so you, too can be part of the future of TMA.
And as we speak to the future of TMA, know your involvement matters and makes a difference all throughout TMA Nation. This is why there is no better time to find your place in global leadership than now. And now is when nominations are open for the TMA Global Board of Trustees, Executive Board, and committee roles for 2024.
With the added role of a VP of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, in the first year, we will have a president-elect and countless committee opportunities there is no day like today to start your global journey.
A global role is your opportunity to play an active role in shaping the organization’s future. We welcome and we encourage self-nominations from all members regardless of previous volunteer experience or tenure within TMA.
At a time when we are breaking new ground, expanding our borders, bringing new global opportunities to the forefront, and securing a strong and shining future, we want the talent in that one connection that is you to help us light the way forward, and there is no better way than to nominate for a TMA global role for 2024. Lastly, today, a huge shout out to the TMA marketing team led by Senior Director of Marketing and Communications Jodi Talley, who, along with Marking Manager Mat Elpern and Senior Marketing Coordinator Talayah Goodlow, won a silver medal at the 43rd Annual EXCEL Awards, the largest and most prestigious program recognizing excellence and leadership in association media, publishing, marketing, and communication, for our innovative and stand out 2022 TMA Annual Campaign: It Starts With One Connection.
I couldn’t be more TMA Proud of this TMA HQ Global Team of professionals who, with each campaign, show an elevated level of creativity, vision, and passion in how we show the very best of who we are and why we are the leading organization in the corporate restructuring, reorganization and corporate health space worldwide.
