CEO Speaks 6.1.24

Happy Saturday and welcome to CEO Speaks for Saturday June 1, 2024, sponsored exclusively by Second Wind Consultants, specializing in article 9, out of court, transactional restructurings.

June is busting out all over and for TMA that means a season of great happenings all across the globe.

With a record breaking Network of Women Summit (NOW) and 10 year anniversary celebration just behind us, we now turn our attentions to the opportunities that throughout the summer will elevate member value in distinct and defining ways.

In just over a week, London, UK will be host to over 200 participants from 15 countries at the TMA International Symposium and European Annual Conference, a grand event that will truly be a world showcase for TMA.

The event promises unparalleled networking possibilities as we unite turnaround professionals from around the globe in an immersive experience where continuous evolution meets the vibrant backdrop of London’s business and cultural scene.

The International Symposium and European Annual week will start with the UK chapter’s summer social, where TMA global executive board leaders, TMA Europe representation committee leaders, as well as chapter presidents from throughout Europe and other parts of the world, will be welcomed by the UK chapter at this premier networking event.

There is truly no better way to bring to life the connectivity of our members, then through a kickoff event like this, where a premier chapter brings TMA nation together under its hometown umbrella, in a celebration of chapter excellence, while showing the depth and reach of the TMA brand worldwide.

Likewise, the TMA Global executive board lead by TMA Global President Allen Wilen and accompanied by TMA Global Chair Jane Mitnick and Global President elect Rachael Smiley, amongst many other board members, will convene in London, as part of our first ever global executive board meeting held internationally.

As part of that meeting TMA Global Executive Leadership will welcome TMA UK President Joanne Rumley and TMA Europe President Tyrone Courtman to the world stage, where they will have the opportunity to address the executive board in what will be another TMA first. In that moment, we will show the world TMA member value from the perspectives of chapter, regional, and global leadership, who thread the needle of what it means to be part of TMA.

In yet another TMA first, our leaders and members from around the world will witness a signing ceremony where we will welcome TMA India and TMA Poland to the big tent, expanding our reach and definitive importance of TMA to virtually every continent in the world.

With India’s economy on track to be the world’s largest by 2034, and with a population amongst the youngest in the world, both business growth and failures will be fast and great, and with India having meaningful connectivity with the US, Europe, and Australia, the importance of this chapter as part of TMA nation cannot be underscored.

With the addition of TMA Poland, our dominant presence in Eastern Europe will be solidified, led by TMA Romania, a chapter that continues to define TMA’s support of regional and cross-border opportunities.  And with the recent addition of TMA Slovakia, the future of TMA in this part of the world continues to be bright.

The international symposium and European annual conference days will boast the best of TMA and will include an EACTP workshop, two Network of Women lead programs, a NextGen roundtable, and two standout keynotes to start and close this TMA world showcase.

For those who will be joining me in London next week, we look forward to sharing the creativity and camaraderie that this multi-day experience will surely be, as #TMALightsTheWay in member value from sea to sharing sea and around the world.

Looking ahead this summer, in July, Toronto, Canada will be host to this year’s NextGen Leadership Conference.  This conference experience, always a stand out opportunity for the super star leaders of tomorrow, many who have already made their mark today, combines outstanding thought leadership through superior education, and networking that will be second to none.

The conference will kickstart with a TMA bootcamp, lead by US and Canadian professionals, in a leaning experience that continues to empower the future of our certification opportunities, and at the NextGen Leadership Conference will propel the leaders of tomorrow through this special learning opportunity.

The conference will be held on July 24th – 25th starting with an opening reception hosted by TMA Toronto and with the conference day being held  at the prestigious Fasken Law firm.

Registration is now open for the 2024 NextGen Leadership Conference and we look forward to bringing the leaders of tomorrow together for this exciting and eclectic special TMA opportunity.

And speaking of NextGen opportunities that will take off this summer, brains will meet brilliance as the inaugural TMA Tourney takes off, in a chapter verses chapter case competition which will bring the best and brightest of TMA nation’s NextGen community to the battleground for bragging rights and a big ole trophy to the winning team.

The competition kicks off in July and will culminate with a two team face off live at TMA Annual in Philadelphia in October.

In this inaugural case competition, the teams that will face off in this summer’s preliminary rounds include TMA Philadelphia/Wilmington, TMA Dallas/Fort Worth, TMA UK, TMA Chicago/Mid-West, TMA New York City, TMA West Michigan, TMA Europe and a joint chapter TMA SoCal/NYC team.

Exciting, groundbreaking and a real and relevant opportunity supporting professional development in this fun way.  Stay tuned as the Olympics of case competitions takes off this summer.

Lastly, today, on this segment of member moments, we celebrate Rocky Ravinder Gupta, founder and president of what will shortly become our newest chapter, TMA India.

Over many years, India has been an area of the world where there has been definitive interest in TMA, but through many fits and starts, it never seemed to be able to get off the ground.

Enter Rocky, an INSOL fellow and visionary TMA advocate, who in seeing the future of India’s economy and with a deep belief that he could bring together professionals who, like him, see and understand the future in India, has laid the groundwork for opening a deep conversation around corporate reorganization and restructuring, that has long been a void in India.

In record time, Rocky has seized on opportunity and brought to life a chapter that we see the potential as being one of the biggest and most impactful chapters in the world.

I look forward to greeting Rocky in London next week, where we will have an official signing of the India chapter affiliation agreement, and where Rocky, already deeply committed to TMA, will speak on our international symposium alternative dispute resolution panel.

Thank you, Rocky, for being the engaged and committed leader you are and for showing how we are better together through TMA.

As always, thank you for taking the time to listen today. Thank you again to our TMA CEO Speaks exclusive sponsor, Second Wind Consultants, for your support of TMA and this podcast.

As TMA Lights the Way, your input is critical, your contributions paramount, and your engagement the foundation that will create a better TMA for all of our members.

Until next time, I’m Scott Stuart. Be safe, resilient, and TMA Proud.
