CEO Speaks 5.4.2024

Happy Saturday, and welcome to CEO Speaks for Saturday, May 4, 2024. This event is sponsored exclusively by Second Wind Consultants, specializing in article 9, out-of-court transactional restructurings.

There is nothing more special to me than to experience TMA connectivity, as I did last week when I joined the TMA Indiana chapter at its premier networking event held at the Indianapolis Zoo. Judges, lawyers, liquidators, and lenders also gathered at this member appreciation event.

From St. Louis to Cincinnati, this member appreciation night celebrated the members and leaders of this growing standout Midwestern chapter and welcomed new and prospective members, too.

Supported in part by a TMA Chapter Resource and Response Committee Grant, this event showed how creativity and connectivity make us better together and set the example of how TMA lights the way by elevating member value in this special way.

Kudos to Indiana chapter president Rhett Rowe and the entire TMA Indiana board for their great effort and for continuing to grow this emerging and important chapter.

Extra, extra hear all about it.  Calling all NextGen TMA members.   Are you ready to step up and stand out for your chapter?  Do you have what it takes to showcase your turnaround talents as a competitor in the inaugural TMA Turnaround Tourney.

If so, then join the growing number of chapters who have already signed up NextGen teams to compete in this coveted TMA opportunity and vie for the chance to compete live at TMA Annual and be named TMA Tourney champion.

The deadline to form a chapter team has been extended to May 10th. With teams from North America and Europe, this one-of-a-kind international NextGen TMA case competition will be thrilling and exhilarating and will bring great attention to the rising stars of the TMA NextGen community, so get your team together today.

Ready, set, NOW.  Who’s ready to celebrate 10 years of women empowerment, mentorship, friendships, and support through TMA with me?

From sea to shining sea and around the world, the women of TMA will come together in Chicago for the 10th anniversary gala celebration of our Network of Women. The NOW Summit really has something for everyone as we celebrate this grand milestone.

With real-time and relevant programming, like the panel comprised of women entrepreneurs of the Chicago food and beverage scene or what will be a grand evening of celebration aboard Chicago’s First Lady riverboat for an exclusive dinner cruise, together we will celebrate the women of TMA in grand fashion and style.

There’s still time to register so you can connect and be part of the grand celebration, and I hope you will join me and other TMA leaders at the NOW Summit on May 16th.

Oh, and the ever-popular TMA boot camp, which will be held live in Chicago on May 15th, is open to all.

We are honored that this boot camp, the introductory study of restructuring finance, management, and law, will be led by Suzanne Burke, CTP, and Michael Von Lehman, CTP. The legal tract will be led by TMA President-elect Rachael Smiley and Chapter President’s Council Chair Rachel Jaffe Mauceri. This will be followed by an ethics session led by the Hon. Deborah Thorne of the Chicago bankruptcy bench.

A wow lineup of the best and the brightest TMA professionals and a great program for all.  So whether you will be in town for the NOW Summit or just want to be part of this awesome opportunity as a pathway to our CTA and CTP certification opportunities, there are still a few spots left for your participation, so consider registering for the boot camp today.

A few weeks after celebrating our defining organization at the TMA Global International Symposium and European Annual Conference, the NOW Summit, just across the pond in London, UK, we will celebrate internationally June 10th-12th.

Now I know you have heard me talk about this special and unique opportunity a great deal over the last few months, but today I wanted to share that in addition to a world of education and networking opportunities, we are excited to announce that the closing keynote speaker of this grand few days, will be Samantha McCalister, former BBC producer and reporter best best for her interview of Prince Andrew, which also became a hit NetFlix feature film this year.

What a wow way to end what will bring together the world of TMA in a city of business, finance, culture, and a stand-out TMA chapter over 400 members strong.

Consider joining those who will be a part of this exceptional opportunity, which will give you the chance to meet TMA Global leaders, TMA Europe leaders, UK chapter, members of the and conference participants from all throughout Europe and virtually every other continent in the world.

Be distinct and defining as you build your TMA profile further by being part of this unique and special opportunity by registering the international symposium and European annual at TMA-europe.org.

Lastly, today, on this segment of member moments, we salute long-time members David Weinstein, CTP, President of TMA Florida and past president of TMA New York City and TMA Connecticut, and Roy Filkoff, chair of TMA Connecticut.

This week, in separate LinkedIn posts both David and Roy brought to the forefront how TMA has been invaluable to them in their professional journeys.

As so poignantly said by David, ‘My personal and professional relationships that have been the driving factor of my success, have been the result of being a TMA member, and more importantly getting involved at the chapter level. I would encourage one and all, young and old, man or women, to get involved and be part of something bigger…’.

Roy noted in his LinkedIn post this week, ‘This is an amazing organization that continues to provide so much value to its members over decades’.  Referencing four business cards he had found from many years ago, Roy gleefully stated, ‘I met all four of these connections at the same meeting in May 2001. I have worked with them many times over the years.  On top of the work, I consider these connections as good friends… That is how TMA works for its members.  TMA provides Resources, Relationships, and Referrals.  You couldn’t ask for anything more.’

Thanks to David and Roy for your passion, presence, and leadership, but most importantly, for your authentic share, power about the people, and purpose of being part of TMA.  It truly speaks to why #TMALightsTheWay and always will.

As always, thanks for taking the time to listen today. And thanks again to our TMA CEO Speaks exclusive sponsor, Second Wind Consultants, for your support of TMA and this podcast.

As TMA Lights The Way, your input is critical, your contributions paramount, and your engagement the foundation that will create a better TMA for all of our members.

Until next time, I’m Scott Stuart. Be safe, resilient, and TMA Proud.
