Happy Saturday, and welcome to CEO Speaks for Saturday, November 16th, 2024 , sponsored exclusively by Second Wind Consultants, specializing in article 9, out-of-court transactional restructurings.
As we round the home stretch of the TMA year, planning is already well in hand for this year’s Valentine’s Day edition of the 2025 Distressed Investing Conference, where we will carry over the TMA Love so many experienced at the TMA Annual in October.
At the 2025 TMA Distressed Investing Conference, with the theme of connect and close, we again will put forth the power of membership in TMA through connections reinforced, new ones made and opportunities that will be born at the deal making, table setting conference of the year.
Early bird registration is now open for the 2025 DIC, as we again descend on Las Vegas, Nevada, for this one-of-a-kind opportunity that brings together more than 1,000 professionals from throughout TMA nation for this premier opportunity.
From bootcamp to capital connections and the plethora of networking opportunities in between, this is a premier opportunity in a changing environment not to be missed.
And this year, we are TMA proud of the committee that will aid in orchestrating this industry-leading effort. We will start with our co-chairs, former TMA Atlanta President Alison Elko Franklin and former TMA Conn. President Ron Reuter, CTP, and TMA UK Board member Anton de Leeuw, along with committee members Michael Brandes, TMA Chicago, Seth R. Freeman, CIRA, CTP, TMA NorCal, Robert Gorin, TMA Florida, Olivia Greenberg, TMA Houston, Jonathan Werrick, TMA SoCal, Maria Hoang, TMA Houston, Jamie Hochhausen, TMA Dallas-Fort-Worth, William McAndrew, TMA Conn, Martha Wyrick, TAM Houston and Mark Felger, TMA Philidelphia-Wilmington, expect the best in class opportunity to start off 2025 coming your way.

As we head into 2025, we are excited to announce our new board of directors to be led by our sixth woman president, Rachael Smiley, who in starting her TMA journey as Dallas-Ft Worth president, and over the last decade having served in multiple executive board roles, now ascends to lead TMA in 2025, a year of great opportunity as we continue to innovate and grow our worldwide footprint.
The Global executive board will boast nine women and several nextgen leaders, who have also served as chapter presidents, a great accomplishment for an organization that in a very organic way, continues to demonstrate the power of diversity in TMA.
And as we scan the world, this last month TMA UK, TMA Germany and TMA UK all held country wide conferences.
TMA Brazil hosted its annual conference in late October. That special opportunity featured 93 industry experts who, over the course of two days, in a combination of in-person and virtual participation, hosted nearly 2,000 participants, an outstanding accomplishment putting TMA in the limelight all throughout South America. Congratulations to TMA Brazil, one of the 2024 International chapters of the year, for showing the world how #TMALightsTheWay, and an example others will undoubtedly emulate and will follow.
Lastly today, on this segment of member moments, we celebrate former TMA UK President and current board member Andrew Pepper.
As chair of this year’s TMA UK national conference, ‘Brave Decisions for a Brighter Future’, Andrew and the conference committee created an experience that spoke to leadership in a very unique and human way, with great emphasis on community and compassion.
With topics that spoke to mental health, personal wellness, and how leaders are vulnerable and need to be supported as they support others, the day challenged conventional thinking and opened avenues of thought leadership on how leaders are people, too. While highly engaged and successful, there are emotional tolls for leaders in times where challenges require those they have supported and championed to be their supporters and champions, too.
A unique and special foundation for a conference experience, the UK conference committee responded to changing times and how we, as a community in a world of personal and professional challenges, can put greater focus on being responsive to each other by creating environments that advocate a deeper understanding of leadership challenges, putting a new lens and understanding on long ignored skills that are proving to create greater and more cohesive professional environments.
Thank you Andrew and all of the talented and creative thinkers on the UK Conference committee who made this conference experience groundbreaking, forward thinking and showing a new dimension of TMA thought leadership.
