Body of Knowledge Courses
TMA, in conjunction with university faculty and industry practitioners, has developed three Body of Knowledge review courses - Law, Accounting/Finance, and Management - to help individuals understand important practices, concepts, and theories as they relate to the turnaround profession.
About the Courses
The courses are valuable tools for helping you apply the principles of corporate renewal to real-world situations, and will allow you to increase your skill set. Registration for the courses is open to everyone.
Practitioners have found these courses useful for individual continuing education purposes, and for expanding their knowledge base and gaining a professional edge. Firms may also schedule review courses on-site for corporate training and advanced education purposes (see below for more details).
The courses are not a requirement for certification and do not serve as exam review courses.
Although candidates have found these courses useful in preparing for the examinations and re-orienting themselves to advanced knowledge of the field, what is asked on the examinations does not correspond directly with what is taught in the courses. The examination questions require the integration and application of prior theoretical, conceptual, and practical knowledge to a variety of turnaround situations, all of which cannot possibly be covered in a one-day course.
Participants are expected to prepare before attending the courses and familiarize themselves with the fundamental corporate renewal concepts. One way of doing this is by reading and studying the Body of Knowledge course books. The courses are extremely interactive and build on the information in these texts.
Continuing Education Credit
CTPs/CTP-Ds and accountants can earn 6.5 CPE credits per course. Attorneys can earn 6.5 CLE credits (50-min/hr) or 5.4 CLE credits (60-min/hr).
Host a Body Knowledge Course
TMA encourages Chapters and firms to host the Body of Knowledge courses as part of a regional conference, as a chapter event, or as an advanced educational offering. Guidelines and requirements for hosting the Body of Knowledge courses can be found here.
