Happy New Year and welcome back! This is going to be a great year full of informative and substantive programs, fun, and valuable networking events hosted by our TMA Arizona Chapter I am pleased to step into the position as your Chapter President for 2012. I am pleased to introduce you to the rest of our knowledgeable and talented Board of Directors:
The members of our Board are dedicated to ensuring the time, dues and event fees you invest with us have real tangible pay offs. We have been planning for several months to make our events more fun, more interactive and more meaningful to you. We want you to walk away from every meeting knowing more members, so together we can build more confidence in working together, and so it will have a tangible impact on your business.
Our Chapter has had fantastic growth and success over the years for many reasons. However, our team is not going to do things because they were done in a certain way in the past. As Loretta Lynn once said: “You’ve got to continue to grow or you’re just like last night’s cornbread: stale and dry.” After all, turnaround professionals are change agents!!!! Nevertheless, we will be guided by Jimmy Carter’s admonition: “We must adjust to changing times and still hold to unchanging principles.”
I, personally, am aware of millions of dollars of business that has occurred between TMA members because of the amount of time those persons spent during and after our events learning about each other and his or her respective businesses. One of our main goals this year is to facilitate such opportunities for each of you. We are soliciting your ideas. Please feel free to call or email me or any of the persons listed above to discuss any thoughts you may have about our Chapter, our programs and other resources.
Thank you to all of those storytellers who were able to attend our stellar kickoff event of the year “War Stories and Lessons Learned” on January 17th, this was an Interactive Networking event, borne of the fertile mind of board member Scott Goldberg, and it was quite a hit! Congratulations to the winner of the highly competitive contest: David Birdsell who won with his tale of having been bitten by a dog and being required to drop a debtor off at a psychiatrist all in one engagement. This is the type of “thinking outside the box” programming we hope to bring to you throughout the year.
Please watch your e-mail for or visit our website for more information on our next two upcoming events: www.arizona.turnaround.org.
February 23, 2012: “A Team Approach to a Successful Reorganization”, at Gallagher & Kennedy. This is going to be another incredible event with a much different focus. It is not going to be about law, accounting, finance, crisis management, valuation or experts. It is about how the best professionals from different fields with different skill sets should work together in order to ensure the successful restructuring of a troubled business. It will help set the table for another key focus of this year: finding persons within our Chapter who you can reach out to and rely on to be part of your team to better serve your clients, and learn how you can be part of such a turnaround team. Don’t miss this event.
March 22, 2012: “Networking Mixer”, at Olive and Ivy. This is a wonderful new venue to mix and mingle with the business associates you already know or should know. Also if you have not already done so, it is that time of year again to renew your membership dues. If you are not a member, please consider joining because you will not want to miss out on the benefits of membership from both our local Chapter and the International Organization not to mention the fun and exciting events we have planned for 2012. For more information please visit our website at: www.arizona.turnaround.org or contact our Membership Co-Chairs, Scott Goldberg or John Mitchell. If you would like to serve on any of our committees (Sponsorship, Membership, PR, or Programs), please call or email me or Jenny Morales.
Thank you and I am looking forward to seeing you at TMA events throughout the year. Please do not hesitate to contact me.
