A centerpiece of the combined 20th anniversary celebration of the restructuring industry and TMA is the Turnaround, Restructuring and Distressed Investing Industry Hall of Fame, established to honor individuals whose outstanding contributions have had profound effects in shaping an industry. The first 10 individuals named to the Hall of Fame will be honored during a special dinner on Tuesday, October 28, at TMA’s Annual Convention in New Orleans.

Perhaps for the first time ever, most of these luminaries of the turnaround, restructuring, and distressed investing industry will come together under one roof as TMA celebrates the evolution of an industry that few had even heard of barely a generation ago. The evening event, chaired by past TMA Chairmen Gerald P. Buccino, CTP, of Buccino & Associates Inc., and John Wm. (Jack) Butler Jr., will also feature entertainment by Emmy Award winning comedian Dana Carvey, a charitable donation to Save the Children, and the presentation of the Butler-Cooley Excellence in Teaching awards.

Butler, a partner based in Chicago and co-head of the global Corporate Restructuring Practice of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP, is among the inaugural class of Hall of Fame inductees. Joining him are:

  • Jay Alix, CTP, founder, AlixPartners, Southfield, Michigan
  • Edward I. Altman, Ph.D., Max L. Heine Professor of Finance, New York University Leonard N. Stern School of Business, New York
  • Dominic (Dom) DiNapoli, chief operating officer, FTI Consulting, New York
  • Lawrence (Larry) A. Marsiello, retired vice chairman and chief lending officer of CIT Group, New York
  • Harvey R. Miller, partner, Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP, New York
  • Henry S. Miller, chairman and co-founder, Miller Buckfire & Co., New York
  • William (Bill) C. Repko, senior managing director and co-head of the Restructuring Advisory practice at Evercore Partners, New York
  • Wilbur Ross, chairman and CEO of WL Ross & Co. LLC, New York
  • Sanford (Sandy) C. Sigoloff, retired, Sigoloff & Associates, Los Angeles

In acknowledgement of TMA’s significant contributions in shaping the industry and their election to the most senior position within the association, the organization’s past chairs also are being recognized as honorary inductees into the Hall of Fame.

In addition to Buccino and Butler, former chairs include Gilbert C. Osnos, CTP; Thomas J. Allison, CTP; William J. Hass, CTP; John M. Collard, CTP; Thomas D. Hays III, CTP; Martin J. McKinley; David L. Auchterlonie, CTP; Melanie Rovner Cohen; Peter L. Tourtellot, CTP; Randall S. Eisenberg, CTP; John R. Rizzardi; Ward K. Mooney; and Colin P. Cross.

Please join us in New Orleans October 27 to 29 for this unique opportunity to honor the inaugural class of the Turnaround, Restructuring and Distressed Investing Industry Hall of Fame.
