Opening Keynote: Derek Redmond, Former Olympic Icon
Former British Olympian Derek Redmond is welcomed to the host city of the 1996 Olympics for an inspiring keynote presentation. As one of Britain’s greatest Olympians, Redmond brings a unique perspective to what it takes to set goals, overcome obstacles and succeed.
While earning gold medals at World, European and Commonwealth levels, Redmond also saw more than his fair share of bad luck and heartache, most famously during the Barcelona 1992 Olympics when his hamstring snapped during the 400m semi-finals. A medal favorite, Redmond struggled to his feet and, along with his father, hobbled the remaining 250 meters in a scene that has become one of the most enduring in modern Olympic history. The inspirational footage has been seen around the world and has become synonymous with the ideals of good sportsmanship and determination.
Lunch Keynote: Gregory Miller, Chief Economist, SunTrust Bank
Gregory Miller shares his expertise which includes forecasting the national economy and interest rates as well as corporate investments, benefit policy, regulations, and mergers and acquisitions. Miller also provides insight from his role as past chairman of the Economic Advisory Committee of the American Banks Association, a national group of economists who meet with the Federal Reserve Board of Governors to discuss the economy and monetary policy.
